Aspects of Maintenance:

Feeding:

A well fed plant will be a happy plant!!!

Using the correct food will maximise the plants effect. General the best results are feeding twice a year during Spring and Autumn with supplementary feeding of liquid food. The use of organic pellets are effective but keeping in mind the nitrogen factors which ill provide a means for all other nutrients to follow.

Plants in pots must be feed more regularly but less each time.

Pruning:

This is important for plant growth and health of the plants. Pruning is normally done in the dormant periods of growth.

Well pruned plants will:

  • have better flowering
  • better shape and vigour
  • removal of sick and damaged limbs
  • generate growth and health and performance

Flowering plants are best pruned after flowering.

The degree of skill and intensity of the pruning will show itself in how it responds.

Plant Health

Watching how plants respond to their environment by:

  • the use of natural organic methods and actions
  • encourage beneficial insects to try and keep a balance between friend and foe
  • use of organic sprays.

Mulching

Use of organic permeable mulch

  • Mulch reduces the risk of evaporation and provides nitrogen uptake as it breaks down.
  • Mulch retains water in the soil and protects the surface roots of a plant.
